We hiked up to the ridge at ragged point, then northish on the ridge to the county line, down to the valley below, then up the next hill to the dutra flats trail. Had lunch, then down hill to turkey springs, then down to the road to Carpojo camp, turning right on that road to go up to the trail market that takes you back up past the rock corral to ragged point ridge. Roughly 14-15 miles, lots of elevation, 10 hours.
HOW TECHNICAL IS THE HIKE?
Not much techinical in this. Some footing issues in big water times, then the uphills, making it important to think about what you are doing so as to not get cramps etc. Need lots of water or adequate water, and time to complete it. We set out on the hike at 7:45 am.
WHO CAN DO THIS HIKE?
Virtually anyone. Half of this hike is trails, the other half is cut dirt roads. You must plan for the uphills or you could suffer joint pain or cramps unless you are medium to very fit.
WHEN SHOULD I GO?
Any day would be idea on this hike. Excepting rainy days. Moderate to light rain would be fun on this hike.
